A gentle spirit and lover of music

 

Margaret-Davis-Obit-webNEEDHAM — Margaret H. (“Mar”) Davis of Needham, formerly of North Reading, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2015, at age 95.

She was the loving wife of 46 years to the late Howard A. Davis.

Margaret grew up in Ridgewood, N.J. , one of six children of Caroline Behre and Henry Bartlett Henze. She graduated from Skidmore College and moved to Boston to train as a physical therapist, eventually becoming Chief Physical Therapist at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. After her marriage to Howard, the Davises moved to North Reading where they were active members of the Union Congregational Church. Margaret was also active in Eastern Star and town conservation issues.

She was known for her gentle caring spirit, love of music and nature , playfulness, humor and use of clever wordplay.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Frederick, Richard, and Henry Henze and her sister, Caroline Forman.

Mar is survived by her sister, Helen Levermore of Pompton Plains, N.J. , sister–in–law, Jean Henze and niece, Sharon Henze, both of Needham, and by her niece, Laura Henze Russell of Sharon and many more nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Atria Marland Place and Avita of Needham for their loving care of Mar.

Her funeral was held at the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill Street, North Reading on Tuesday, June 9.  Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
