Margaret-Turner-obit-webWINCHESTER — Margaret E. (Lux) Turner passed away at Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester on Nov. 2, 2016, five days after her husband died at Aberjona Nursing Center. She was 93 years of age.

Margaret was born in Winchester on Jan. 28, 1923 to the late John A. and Alice (Manning) Lux. Peggy was raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1940 and has been a lifelong resident of Melrose.

In her younger years she worked for a local insurance company and then in customer service at Sears & Roebuck in Saugus for many years. Margaret was a member of St. Mary Church in Melrose for many years before moving and becoming a member of Incarnation Church in Melrose.

Mrs. Turner enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Peggy and her husband Leo enjoyed spending winters in Boynton Beach, Fla., traveling to Spain, Ireland, Europe and they took numerous cruises on the Norwegian Cruise Line.

Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will now join her husband Leo Sr., her son Chris and grandson Michael, all who passed away this year.

Peggy was the beloved wife of 74 years to the late Leo C. Turner Sr. She was the loving mother of Kathleen Devir and her husband Jim of New Hampshire, Michael Turner and his wife Cheryl of Melrose, Cindy Lux and her partner Michaela of Brighton, Robin McDonald of Wrentham and the late Leo “Chris” Turner Jr. She was the cherished grandmother of Kim, Karen, Mark, the late Mike Jr., Casey, Ry, Maggie, Sam and Julian. Proud great-grandmother of Stephen, Jessica, Jack, Madelynn, Ty and Brennan. Sister of the late John W. Lux and William F. Lux. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Thursday, Nov. 3, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial for both Leo and Margaret at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 11 a.m.
