LYNNFIELD — Margaret Louise (Bragg) Markham passed peacefully into eternal life on Friday, September 9 at midnight.  She leaves a legacy of loving kindness to all who shared her 93 years.

Margaret was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on August 10, 1923, and was a resident of Lynnfield for the past 69 years. As a young woman, she moved with her family to South Bend, Indiana. She later attended the Chicago Art Institute.   It was in South Bend that she met the love of her life, Clifford I Markham, Jr. from Everett, Massachusetts, a Navy Ensign in training at Notre Dame. She married the “officer and gentleman” in South Bend and moved to Lynnfield in 1947.  They began married life in a summer cottage on Pillings Pond before they built their home on Summer Street.  Margaret and Cliff had two loving daughters, Janet and Nancy.

Love for family, faith, and friends was the hallmark of Margaret’s life. She served the community in many ways and participated in groups at Centre Congregational Church, the Get-Together Wheel, Lynnfield Garden Club, Lynnfield Library, and the Lynnfield Senior Center thrift shop and painting class were among her favorites.

Artistic by nature, Margaret enjoyed creativity in many forms, including painting, crafts, gardening and hospitality.  She was known for her beautiful gardens and her many acts of kindness to friends and neighbors.  Margaret believed that she lived a wonderful life, and her spirit lives on.

Margaret is survived by daughters Janet (married to William P. Everson) and Nancy (married to Peter L. Bugbee). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Meredith Everson Lamont (Kevin), David Everson, Elisabeth Everson, Kristin Bugbee Hathorn (James) and Andrew Bugbee.  Margaret also had two precious great-grandchildren, Kieran Markham Lamont and Charleigh Megan Hathorn. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Cliff (in 1982), and granddaughter, Megan Markham Bugbee (in 2010).

Visiting hours were Tuesday, September, 13 at the McDonald Funeral Home, Yale Avenue, Wakefield, Massachusetts.  Her service was held on Wednesday, September 14 at 1 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer St., Lynnfield.  Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
