WAKEFIELD — Marianne (Nanfria) Mandato, 98, a long-time resident of Malden and Wakefield, passed away peacefully on Aug. 27.
She was the widow of Vito Mandato, her husband of 50 years.
She is survived by her beloved children, Joseph Mandato of San Francisco, Marianne Foley of West Boylston, Vito Mandato of Los Angeles, Annette Gregorio of Melrose and Laurie Mandato of Needham. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Lucy, Sarah, Jonathan, Matthew, Mark, TJ, Christina, Marirose and Hallie and five great-grandchildren, Arianna, Leili, Sonata, Will and Cameron.
Marianne was born to Gaspar and Marianna Nanfria on Dec. 15, 1915. She was born and raised in Boston’s North End, then moved with her family to Everett. She was the oldest of six siblings, Salvatore, Antonetta, Tony, Leo and Johnnie, all of whom preceded her in death.
She spent much of her adult life caring for her five children and working with her husband Vito to build Pleasant Stationers into a vital component in the renewal of Malden Square.
She was a warm and loving woman who spent her entire life caring and nurturing others. Her warmth, unconditional love for all around her, her wonderful spirit and smile will forever be missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., at the Church of the Sacred Hearts, 315 Main St., Malden.
Interment is private.
