Dugganobit-webWAKEFIELD — Marie M. Duggan, 71, of Wakefield, died Sunday, Dec. 11, in Medford after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Malden on Feb. 25, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Margaret (Callahan) Twohig.

Mrs. Duggan was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School of Malden and later from Salem State College. She went on to teach at the Immaculate Conception Elementary School of Malden and Saint Joseph Elementary School of Wakefield.

She is survived by her beloved husband Dennis M. Duggan. She was the loving mother of Kevin Duggan and her daughter in-law Patrice M. Kwet and Janine M. Gauvin and husband Robert, all of Reading, and Kathleen A. Kennedy and husband Steven of Woburn. She was the sister of Geraldine A. McHale and her late husband Jimmy and Lorraine K. McCarran and her husband Bill and their daughters Christine and Erin, all of Stoneham. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Julia, Conor and Timothy Duggan, Jeremiah and Brendan Gauvin and Nora and Nolan Kennedy. She was predeceased by her grandson Matthew Gauvin.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 10:30 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
