Enjoyed daily drives, Sunday Mass and family gatherings

WAKEFIELD — Marjorie M. Spang, age 96, a longtime Wakefield resident passed away on October 28 at the Lahey Clinic and Medical Center in Burlington surrounded by her family.

Marjorie was born on September 26, 1928 to Gunnar and Margaret Colliander. She had an older brother Ralph and a sister Helen, both now deceased. Marjorie met the love of her life the late Robert C. Spang in Winchester and together they had five children: Marcia, Corrine, Robert Jr., Edmund and Brian, who is also deceased.

Marjorie cherished her home on Elm St. where she spent nearly 40 years enjoying cooking and entertaining family and friends. She and Bob loved weekends with his brother Paul and wife Marian sharing laughter and stories.

She worked with Bob at Spang Controls Company in Stoneham, relishing the time spent with family there. In later years, they purchased a townhouse in Vero Beach, FL where they enjoyed winters golfing and making new friends. They also enjoyed the company of sons Ed and Brian who later moved to Vero Beach. After the passing of Bob and Tom Cullinan in 2008, Marjorie lived with Marguerite Cullinan in Lynnfield where they shared happy times together.

At 96, Marjorie was sharp and still driving. She enjoyed daily drives, attending Sunday Mass at Saint Joseph and cherished visits with Corrine and Paul in Wakefield. She looked forward to family gatherings and Friday nights at the 99 Restaurant.

Just last week, she remarked, “I have had a wonderful long life, spent with loving children.” Ready to be with God, Marjorie passed peacefully at Lahey Clinic surrounded by family. She joined family including husband Bob, son Brian and granddaughter Diane in Heaven.

She is survived by her children Marcia, husband Stephen Venditti; Corrine, husband Paul DiSanto; Robert Jr., wife Linda Spang; Edmund; and Donna Spang, wife of Brian; along with 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all.
