Life Member of the Wakefield Democratic Town Committee

WAKEFIELD — Mary Therese (Sawyer) Daniels passed away at her home on Monday, March 20, surrounded by her family.
A longtime resident of Wakefield, Mrs. Daniels served as the gubernatorial appointee to the Wakefield Housing Authority, having been appointed by former Governor Deval Patrick on July 9, 2008. Mrs. Daniels was a member of the Wakefield Garden Club, a director of the Hartshorne House Association, a volunteer with the Salvation Army Christmas Program, a member of the Y.M.C.A. Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer with the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry and a member of the Wakefield Democratic Town Committee for over 40 years, serving as its vice-chair for 20 years. She became a Life Member of that committee in 2016.
Mrs. Daniels treasured the time she spent with her family, she was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.
Mrs. Daniels was born in Charlestown, daughter of Mary (Kenney) and John Sawyer. She was predeceased by her husband Carney D. Daniels, Sr. who passed away on July 9, 2003. Mrs. Daniels was predeceased by her brother, John Sawyer, and by her sister, Priscilla (Sawyer) Noonan.
She is survived by her daughter Priscilla Hollenbeck and her husband Thomas of Reading; Carney D. Daniels Jr. and his wife Nancy of Essex Junction, Vermont; Kelley Manzi and her husband Vincent of Stoneham and Amy Nardone and her husband Mark of Lynnfield. She was the loving grandmother of Madeline, Jack and Luke Hollenbeck; Kayleigh, Kathryn, Chloe and Cassidy Daniels; Joseph and Brenna Manzi and Emma and Lindsay Nardone.
Her funeral will be held from McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30 a.m.
Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
Visitation for relatives and friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
