Fureyobit-webMELROSE — Mary Jean “Jeanne” Marchand Furey, 79, of Melrose, died January 8 surrounded by loved ones at Penacook Nursing Home in Haverhill.

Mary was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and graduated from Everett High School. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Margaret Marchand of Melrose.

Mary was married for 32 years to the late Lawrence Kenneth Furey. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her main goal in life was to see her family happy.

Family members include son Michael Furey and daughter-in-law Joni of Atkinson, NH, daughter Judy Chamberlain and son-in-law John of Amesbury, son Larry Furey and daughter-in-law Jodi of Epping, NH, and sister Dolores Doherty of Melrose.  Also survived by seven loved grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Mary’s name to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, which Mary was a devoted supporter of.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Friday, January 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m.

A private burial service will be held at a later date.
