PALM BAY, Fla. — Mary M. (Gray) Collins, 89, of Palm Bay, Fla. and formerly of Melrose, died on June 16.

Mary was born in Scotland on March 22, 1926 to Bernard and Margaret Gray. Mary married Robert Collins in Scotland, came to the United States as a war bride and they had three children together.

She raised her family in Melrose and was a longtime Melrose resident.

Mary and Robert were former members of Bellevue Golf Course in Melrose. For over 20 years Mary owned Collins Real Estate in Melrose and also spent time working as a real estate agent at other local companies.

In her spare time Mary enjoyed reading and working on crossword puzzles.

The memories she truly cherished were her many trips to Scotland to visit family as well as multiple cruises to Bermuda with her husband Robert.

Mary is survived by her three children: Brian Collins and his wife Shirley of Wells, Maine, Barbara Whalen and her husband David of Palm Bay, Fla. and Carolyn DeFreitas and her husband Phillip of Ft. Myers, Fla. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A gathering was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Thursday, June 25, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral procession at 10:30 a.m. to Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett for a graveside service.
