Enjoyed the simpler side

Odonnell-obit_webMELROSE — Mary (Pomer) O’Donnell, a 24-year resident of Melrose and formerly of Belmont, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at her home in Melrose following a four year courageous and selfless struggle with A.L.S. She was 51 years old.

Mary was born in Boston on September 13, 1963, a daughter of Frank A. Pomer and Margaret (Flatley) Pomer. Mary was raised and educated in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School in 1981. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from The College of The Holy Cross in 1985 and her Law Degree from Suffolk University in 1994. Mary was a homemaker who took great pride in taking care of her family. She enjoyed going to the beach, was a person who enjoyed the simpler things in life and never took anything for granted. She cherished the quiet times with her husband and enjoyed attending all the activities that her children were involved in whether it be school functions or sporting events.

Mary was the loving wife of 24 years to William P. “Bill” O’Donnell. She wass the devoted and loving mother to Tom, Jim, Matt, Luke and Maria O’Donnell. She was the beloved daughter of Frank Pomer and the late Margaret (Flatley) Pomer. She was the beloved sister of Patti Tenaglia, Frank Pomer, Margaret Koslowsky, Michael Pomer, Jim Pomer, Janet McCormack, Kathy Watkins, Bobby Pomer, David Pomer, Kristen Pomer and the late Richard Pomer. She was the beloved daughter-in-law of David and Anne O’Donnell. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends attended Mary’s visiting hours on Tuesday, November 4, from 4 to 8 p.m.  in St. Mary’s Church (corner of Myrtle and Herbert streets), Melrose. Her funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, November 5, in St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. Her burial was at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
