ROCKLAND — Maryse Lafrance, 42, resident of Rockland, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Maryse was born on January 11, 1976 in Montreal, Quebec, a daughter of Max Stephen and Antonide Lafrance. The family moved back to Haiti when Maryse was very young, and she spent the first part of her childhood there, then moving to the United States at the age of nine.

Growing up, Maryse was a joyful and sweet child. She loved to go out to play and was very adventurous. Her nickname was Sweetheart. She enjoyed playing with the other children, riding her bike around town as well as singing and dancing. She was especially fond of her grandmother.

Maryse graduated from Medford High School in 1994, and went to work at Lahey Clinic as a billing coordinator. She was a dedicated and hard worker, and worked until her illness made it too difficult for her to leave her home.

A woman of great faith, it gave Maryse the strength to fight through her illness and live the best life she could. She was a proud member of First Haitian Baptist Church. Maryse dearly loved her family, and would spend as much time with them as she could. She liked to talk to her uncles, cook, and was planning on going back to school to become a pharmacist.

Maryse was a sweet, kind, and caring soul who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Maryse is the beloved daughter of Antonide Dorne. Adored niece of Sylvain Dorne of Medford, Adelphin and Marguerite Dorne of Medford, Charles Yvon Dorne of Chelmsford, Bernadette Dorne of Everett, Ketty Dorne of Medford, and Nelly Dorne of Peabody. Cherished cousin of Mckinley Dorne of Everett, Pascal Dorne of Everett, Hersi Dorne of Medford, Fiori Dorne of Medford, Dori Forne of Medford, Benjamin Dorne of Peabody, and Kirby Dorne of Peabody.
