LOWELL — Alan E. Leahy, 62, passed away in his sleep unexpectedly on January 25, 2021.

Most recently living in Lowell for several years, he is formerly from Melrose. Born and raised in Melrose, Alan attended Melrose schools through junior high and went on to graduate from The Voke (Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School), Class of 1977, majoring in carpentry.

He worked at various companies through the years, including Harris Environmental in Andover, WB Mason and Lifespan of Rhode Island – Health Service among others.

Alan was an avid sports fan. Despite living in New England Patriots Nation, Alan was a fiercely loyal NY Giants fan. He also enjoyed Bruins hockey and Mets baseball. He loved playing darts whenever and wherever he could and was a member of Team Mutiny at Captain John’s in Lowell.

Camping was another activity he got great enjoyment from and he and his family were past seasonal campers at Flat Rock Bridge Family Campground in Lebanon, Maine. His family meant a great deal to him and spending time reading and having discussions with his grandson Connor about the books they both were reading brought him great joy.

Alan was the son of the late Marjorie Bertolucci and late Leo Leahy Sr. He is survived by daughters Bridget Leahy and Heather Ball (wife Donna) and grandson Connor, siblings Stephen Leahy (wife Janet), Leo Leahy Jr., Ken Leahy (wife Linda) & Mora Leahy, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and numerous cousins.

A gentle soul with a big heart, Alan will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services and interment in Wyoming Cemetery (Melrose) will be private. A celebration of Alan’s life may be planned for when restrictions are relaxed. To leave an online message of condolence please visit gatelyfh.com
