SOMERVILLE — John P. Balestieri died at Cambridge Hospital on February 22, 2021 at the age of 66.

John was born in Boston, was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1972. John was a lifelong resident of Melrose before moving to Somerville three years ago.

He worked as a tour organizer and arranged for numerous trips to Montreal, Canada and Daytona Beach, Florida. John was a very funny person who should have gone into stand-up comedy. He was excellent at refinishing old furniture, was an excellent cook and loved to entertain family and friends. John enjoyed surfing in his early years, loved boating with his dad and spending time at Brown’s Boatyard in Gloucester. He was a very dedicated uncle and truly loved all his nieces & nephews.

John was the loving son of Rose (Limone) Balestieri and the late Alfonso Balestieri. He was the cherished brother of Catherine Bourgeois and her husband James, Diane Monterio and her husband Kenneth all of Woburn and the late Robert J. Balestieri. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family members and friends.
