MELROSE — Ann Christine (McIsaac) Doherty, having lived a full and active life for nearly 95 years, passed peacefully on September 14, 2020.

Predeceased by her loving husband, Owen Francis Doherty, LTC-RA retired and two daughters, Ellen Frances Comeau and Nancy Louise McDonough.

Born prematurely at home to Hugh Daniel McIsaac and Florence Annie MacKinnon in Somerville, she spent her first night by the warming oven, not expected to survive. Also predeceased by her sister Mary Dahl and brother John McIsaac.

As a career Army officer’s wife she traveled the country and Europe, making home wherever the trail took her family. Settling in Melrose 59 years ago, pregnant with her youngest child, and facing her husband’s deployment to Southeast Asia for the coming year, she proceeded to put down roots, with an open heart and open door.

Truly missing her dearly are her daughter Patricia and Kenneth Estey of Concord, sons Owen and Robert Watkins of Billerica, Daniel and Stephanie of Northfield, Vt., John and Monique of Medford, and sons-in-law Richard Comeau of Malden and Stephen McDonough of Stoneham. With nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, an extensive family, and friends, she will not be forgotten by those she has touched.

Sincere appreciation goes out to the generous souls of the Visiting Nurse and Community Care of Arlington and Care Dimension of Danvers.

Services will be private, with burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne. A celebration of her life will be held in the future. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to benefit the charity of your choice. Be at peace. To leave an online message of condolence please visit gatelyfh.com.
