MELROSE — Frances R. (Dunkle) DiMeco, 84, longtime Melrose resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. 

Born in Boston on March 13, 1936, Frances is the daughter of the late Horace E. and Frances J. (Love) Dunkle. She grew up in Onset and would vacation there in her adult life. It was a place she loved.

Frances and Tony DiMeco were married in 1969 and went on to share 51 wonderful years together.

Frances worked at John Hancock Insurance Company for many years, making numerous lifelong friends. She was a member of the Sons of Italy Club in Wakefield, where she served as president for two years, the Northshore German American Club, and the Crimson Charmers Red Hat Society Chapter, where she served as Queen of the Red Hats and they enjoyed bowling at the Wakefield Bowling Alley.

Frances and Tony enjoyed traveling to Europe, Alaska, the West Coast, Pennsylvania Amish Country, and numerous German Festivals in the New England area. She also liked reading and adored her cat, Rocky and Corgi, Max.

The love, kindness and warmth that Frances had shown for others will be deeply missed.

Frances is the beloved wife of Tony DiMeco, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Loving sister of the late Horace Michael Dunkle, sister-in-law of Rose Nocera and her late husband Antonio, Maria Viglietti and her husband Berardo, Irene DiMeco and her late husband Rudy, and the late Luigi DiMeco and his wife Luisa. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
