Went on trips to Lake Winnipesaukee and Chatham

MELROSE — Claire N. (Pedrini) Gillis, 84, passed away at Greenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield on July 29, 2018.

Claire was born in Cambridge on March 30, 1934 to the late Mario and Madeline (Marchetti) Pedrini. She was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School. She lived in Somerville for 10 years and Melrose for the past 43 years. Claire was a homemaker who had previously worked at Town & Country Jewelry Store in Chelsea for 15 years. She and her husband Leo also owned and operated C&L Variety Store on Lebanon Street in Melrose for many years. Claire enjoyed traveling with her husband Leo, taking trips to Lake Winnipesaukee and loved Chatham. She enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods, knitting, doing puzzles and crossword puzzles. But most of all she cherished all the times she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Gillis was the beloved wife of the late Leo J. Gillis. Loving mother of Dennis H. Sullivan, Bryan M. Sullivan and his wife Patsy, Sharon A. Lloyd and her longtime companion of Russell Willwerth and Sharon’s late husband Edward J. Lloyd all of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Nicole and Jessica Lloyd, Brianna and Madalyn Sullivan and Erin and Sean Sullivan. Proud great-grandmother of Nystasia and Dayvian. Caring sister of the late Helen Mazurek and Richard Pedrini.

Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, August 2 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday morning August 3 at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
