Longtime Melrose resident

GEORGETOWN — Dorothy J. Hunt, 87, of Georgetown, died on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Langdon Place of Exeter.

Born in Everett on February 3, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Jane (Beattie) Smith.

Mrs. Hunt was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School. She was a longtime Melrose resident. Mrs. Hunt was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Women’s Auxiliary Board of Scots Charitable Society and had retired from Vacuum Barrier in Woburn.

She was the wife of the late Albert Hunt. Mother of Linda Blair and her husband Don of Byfield, Beverly Rawson and her husband Tom of Georgetown, Nancy Spencer and her husband Tom of Brentwood, N.H., Patricia Szymanski and her husband Tom of Exeter, N.H. and the late Thomas Hunt. Sister of George Smith of Maryland and the late Hamilton Smith, Charlotte Miller and Janette Smith. Grandmother of Scott Rawson, Stacy Sheldon, Jonathan Paolucci, Brendan and Bridget Jones, Tom and Jeffrey Spencer and Alan, Clayton Kent and Jillian Dupuis. Mrs. Hunt is also survived by her eight great grandchildren.

Visitation for relatives and friends was at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday, December 26. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
