MELROSE — E. Edward “Eddie” Rossi, 90, passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday December 12, 2018.

Eddie was born in Boston on July 30, 1928 to the late Angelo and Philomena (Quaratiello) Rossi. He was raised in the West End of Boston, graduated from high school in Boston and from Northeastern University. Mr. Rossi worked as an engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts building many of the colleges in the area. He assisted in building Bridgewater State, Roxbury State, Salem State, Worcester State, Boston State as well as numerous other institutions. After his retirement at the age of 65 he continued to work as a consultant at Bridgewater State University.

Edward and his wife Ella lived in Wakefield and Melrose for many years and the past 20 years on Franklin St. in Melrose. His main hobby was work; he was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling with his wife to Aruba, Italy, Bermuda and Florida. Mr. Rossi had a very strong catholic faith and was a longtime member of Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield. He also was a member of the West End Club and would meet weekly with a group of friends on Thursday for lunch. Eddie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing family members and friends. He was a very dedicated husband and his family meant everything to him.

Eddie was the beloved husband of Ella M. (Cianciarulo) Rossi. Caring brother of Marie Sullivan of Roslindale and the late Phyllis Mahoney. Cherished uncle of Marilsa Freni, Joe Chance, Bobby Sullivan and Maria DeSario. Also survived by several other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield, on Tuesday, December 18. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. There were no visiting hours and the burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose was private. U.S. Army Korean War Veteran.
