MELROSE — Theresa F. (Hook) Lynch, 86, passed away at The Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on December 11, 2018.

Theresa was born in Saugus on May 4, 1932 to the late James and Victoria (Gerdash) Hook. Theresa was raised in Saugus until junior high school before moving to Miami, Florida and graduating from Miami High School. She returned to the Boston area and graduated from Regis College in Weston. Mrs. Lynch has been a resident of Melrose for the past 62 years.

She was a homemaker, a longtime member of Incarnation Church and a former member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose. Theresa enjoyed traveling down to the Islands with her husband Bud, enjoyed wintering in Palm Beach Gardens in Florida but most of all she loved her home in South Yarmouth. Mrs. Lynch loved driving along Route 6A; stopping at all the local shops and restaurants with her husband Bud, spending time at the beach and having all her children and grandchildren at her home for great summertime fun. Theresa also loved to host parties and cookouts at her home on Woodcrest Drive in Melrose over the years. In her younger years she enjoyed skiing at Loon Mountain with friends, she was an avid cook and baker which are talents she passed down to her children and she was a voracious reader right up to the end.

Theresa was the beloved wife of 59 years to the late George D. “Bud” Lynch. Loving mother of George D. “Buddy” Lynch Jr. and his wife Martha, Donna Lanney and her husband Richard all of Peabody, James J. Lynch and his wife Cynthia of Wakefield and John P. Lynch of Melrose. Proud grandmother of Meaghan Pattani and her husband Alok, George D. Lynch III, Julie Leone and her husband Luciano, Diane Catherman and her husband Jason, Jennifer Lynch, James J. Lynch Jr. and his wife Amber and David F. Lynch and his wife Brittany. Proud great-grandmother of Bradley, Esther, Emma, Charley Lynch, Stella Leone and Jackson and Mia Cathermen. Theresa was the last of the 10 Hook siblings. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, December 14. Procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, December 15, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
