MELROSE — Elizabeth M. (D’Addario) “Liz” Coolidge, 71, a resident of Melrose and formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully at the High Pointe House in Haverhill on Sunday, April 19, 2020.

Elizabeth was born in Boston on September 16, 1948, the daughter of the late Elena (Cervizzi) and Mario D’Addario. She was raised in the Jeffries Point section of East Boston and graduated from Girls High School in Roxbury, Class of 1966. On June 18, 1966, she was married to East Boston native, Roscoe Coolidge and they stayed in East Boston to raise a family of three daughters.

Liz worked for many years in customer service starting at Shawmut Bank then eventually retiring from Eastern Bank. She also worked at Five Below part time, and volunteered at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital Gift Shop.

An avid reader, Liz was a frequent patron of the Melrose Public Library. A great cook, she enjoyed cooking and baking her Italian specialties for all to enjoy, especially Roscoe. She was well known for making homemade pizzelle and frosted Italian cookies. With Roscoe, Liz loved yearly cruises to the Caribbean, and enjoyed visiting Marco Island, Fla. and Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H. In her free time, she enjoyed watching General Hospital, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and CSI.

Generous and humble, Liz devoted herself to her family, especially doting on her grandchildren. She took great joy in finding a good bargain while shopping for family. She was a loving aunt, cousin, in-law, neighbor, friend, and co-worker to many. She considered her cousin, Marianne Gentile, and her Coolidge in-laws, to be the siblings she never had and she cherished her life-long friendships. Liz held close to her heart many lifelong friendships and welcomed all with open arms and a home-cooked Italian meal. Liz will be sorely missed, but always lovingly remembered for her kind heart, generous nature, and hospitable home.

Liz was the beloved wife of the late Roscoe L. Coolidge Jr. with whom she shared 50 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Michelle Bettano and her husband Kenneth of Melrose, Donnaleigh Coolidge-Miller and her husband Brian of Melrose, Lisa Coolidge-Ellis and her husband Eric of North Plainfield, N.J. Cherished grandmother of Danielle and Carly Bettano, Elizabeth Ellis, and Dante and Mia Miller. She is also a loving extended member of the Coolidge family. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services for Liz will be announced in the future when all may gather to honor, remember and celebrate her life. Gifts in her memory may be made to High Pointe House Hospice, 360 North Ave., Haverhill MA 01830. For online tribute, or directions visit RobinsonFuneralHome.com
