MELROSE — Lois E. (Courage) Gilligan, 86, of Melrose, died at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield on July 28, 2019.

Lois was born and raised in Medford and a graduate of Medford High School. She worked as an assembler for Transitron, Compugraphic and AGFA in Wilmington for over 20 years before her retirement, and resided in Melrose for over 45 years.

Lois was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Melrose and enjoyed children and animals. She loved being outside doing yard work, traveling to the Margate Resort on Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H. and trips to California.

Lois was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence F. Gilligan. Devoted daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Riley) Courage. Caring sister of the late Harold “Jack” Courage and Theresa Gilligan. Sister-in-law of Mary Jane Murphy of Calif. Beloved aunt of several nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends.

A graveside service was held at the Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose on Monday, August 5. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
