MELROSE — Mary R. “Bobbie” Carroll, 93, of Wilmington and formerly of Malden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Born on July 12, 1927, in Malden, Bobbie was the youngest of 15 children of the late Robert and Rhoda (Grover) Carroll. She graduated from Malden High School and received her bachelor and master’s degrees from Boston College.

A woman who was ahead of her time, Bobbie worked in Administration at the United States Department of State. She traveled extensively for work as well as pleasure and made numerous lifelong friends around the world. She worked hard to achieve her goals but was also fiercely loyal to her family.

She was a voracious reader, and one of her favorite places to visit was Bonn, Germany. She dearly loved her family and was always very generous. Bobbie was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church in Melrose.

Bobbie will be lovingly remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her 14 brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends gathered in honor of Bobbie’s life at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose. Funeral services were at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert Street, Melrose. Interment was  Dale Cemetery, Malden.
