SAUGUS — Nancy Covino, 67, passed away at the North Shore Medical Center Union Hospital in Lynn on February 26, 2018.
Nancy was born in Rochester, N.H. on July 19, 1950 to the late Samuel J. and Marie L. (Cafasso) Covino. She was raised in Stoneham, attended Stoneham elementary schools, the John T. Barry School and St. Coletta’s School. Miss Covino lived in Melrose from 1975-2011, Malden for a few years, and the past year in Saugus.
Nancy loved working and volunteering at the New England Memorial Hospital in Stoneham for the housekeeping department and in the pharmacy for many years until its closing. Then she worked for Triangle Inc. in Malden for several years. She loved to go square dancing and bowling and was an avid reader. Nancy belonged to HYA (Handicapped Adult Group) where she had the opportunity to take trips to Alaska, The Grand Ole Opry, Bush Gardens, Disney World and other wonderful locations.
In her later years she enjoyed going to the Dutton Center in Wakefield. Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late Samuel J. and Marie L. (Caffasso) Covino. Loving sister of Samuel J. Covino Jr. and his wife Ruth of Winchester and the late Susan M. Covino. Devoted aunt of Christopher Covino and James Covino.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Sunday March 4, from 2-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Monday March 5, at 10 a.m., followed by a burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to Triangle Inc., 420 Pearl St., Malden, MA 02148.
