LYNNFIELD — Sandra Frances (Studley) Duggan, 79, a longtime Lynnfield resident, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019.

Born on February 4, 1939, she was the daughter of the late John Francis and Janice (Peterson) Studley.

Sandra was raised in Wakefield and attended Wakefield Public Schools. During high school, she met her husband of six decades, Thomas F. Duggan, Jr., and attended Boston University earning a degree in business studies. After college, Sandra and Tom moved around the country living in Pasadena, California and Poughkeepsie, New York as they began their careers and started their family. Sandra, Tom and their family returned to the Boston area, ultimately settling in Lynnfield in the mid-1960s.

In the early 1970s, after the birth of her and Tom’s fourth child, Sandra became an executive secretary at American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield, where she spent 15 years. Subsequently, she was an executive assistant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and she finished her career assisting the neurology department at Lahey Medical Center until she retired.

Sandra enjoyed the family’s time boating on the North Shore, recreation at their Maine vacation home and exploring the southwest from her and Tom’s winter home near Christmas, Arizona. Sandra was most passionate about music, traveling and especially her family. An accomplished pianist, she enjoyed spending time playing the piano for and with her family, though none inherited her abilities. She was a devoted fan of musical performances and theater.

Sandra visited many parts of the U.S. and Europe and enjoyed long vacations with her daughter in the Bahamas, though all who knew her knew that the New England coast was her happy place. It was her love of family that filled her days with the most joy, enjoying her grandkids’ activities, celebrating the holidays with close and extended family, watching New England’s sports teams rack up wins and championships, traveling to the coast of Maine and documenting her family’s past as an avid and passionate genealogist.

Sandra is survived by her husband Tom; her children Debra M. Duggan of Lynnfield; John F. Duggan and his wife Krisi of Harpswell, Maine; Scott F. Duggan and his wife Joanne of Lynnfield; and Mark Duggan and his wife Ava Kuo of Stanford, California. Her grandchildren Kelsey, Sean, Connor, Paul and Lena Duggan; and her brother, John F. Studley and his wife Grayce of Naples, Florida, also survive her.

A private interment was held at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield. Arrangements were in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
