A loving daughter who had a big heart
MELROSE — Barbara A. Steblecki, 70, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021. She will be greatly missed.
Barbara was born June 6, 1951 in Jersey City, N.J., one of three daughters of beloved parents William and Alice Steblecki. Raised in Jersey City, her family then moved to Upper Montclair, N.J. Following her father’s death in 1993, Barbara and her mother relocated to Melrose in 1994 to be with her sisters Edith and Elaine Steblecki. She is survived by her loving sisters, as well as by other family and friends in New Jersey, the Philadelphia area and New York State.
Nothing was more important to Barbara than family. She was a loving and devoted daughter who cared for her parents as they aged. She spent many happy years as her mother’s constant companion. They enjoyed watching movies, taking car rides, and spending time with their cherished Papillion, Abby Joy, who provided them with much happiness.
Professionally, Barbara was a legal secretary for many years, working for firms in New Jersey and New York City. She had a big heart and a sharp mind. She generously shared her wisdom and keen insight with her loyal friends and acquaintances. Homebound for several years, she and her sisters enjoyed much time together, watching favorite programs as varied as “Downton Abbey” and “Sex and the City,” the latter reminding her of happy times spent in Manhattan.
Barbara was a devout Roman Catholic and enjoyed visiting area churches. Her funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 12 noon at Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, of Blessed Mary of the Morning Star Collaborative in Revere.
