Graduated from Melrose High in 1943

PEABODY — Gwendolynde “Gwen” (Merrill) Wall, of Peabody died peacefully on November 28, 2021.

Gwen was the beloved wife of the late Edward “Ed” J. Wall Jr., with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents, the late Alvin Lynde Merrill and Elsie M. (Humphreys) Merrill.

Gwen was a graduate of Melrose High School in 1943 and attended the Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine where she obtained a degree in Secretarial Science. While attending college, she participated in the Waneka Riding Club, Secretarial Science Club and Inter-House Basketball and Softball.

Following college graduation in 1946, she worked as a secretary for the Lord Electric Company of Boston.

Gwen was a devout Catholic and maintained a strong faith in God. She married the boy next door and the love of her life, Edward, on May 23, 1953. After first residing in Cheshire, Connecticut, they built a loving home in West Peabody in 1964.

Gwen and Ed enjoyed traveling the US together, music, dancing, and a nice dinner out; some of their favorite spots included The Kernwood at Lynnfield many years ago and The Hard Cover restaurant. Gwen always appreciated being with friends and family; some of her favorite pastimes included traveling, playing card games and spending time at the ocean.

Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral Mass at St. Adelaide Parish, 712 Lowell St., Peabody, MA on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
