MELROSE—It was a fitting finale for the 2017 Melrose Red Raider wrestling, who were honored at the Massachusetts State House on June 7, recognized for their historic 20-1-1 record and Div. 3 State Championship earned this past winter.
They were greeted by State Representative Paul Brodeur and given a proclamation signed by Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo in recognition of, “your receipt of the Div. 3 State team title, your unprecedented 20-1-1 record and your outstanding representation of Melrose’s values.”
Melrose crowned two individual state champs in Hunter Adrian and senior captain Antonio DiFronzo during the season and coach James Bleiler was named Div. 3 Coach of the Year.
“It was great honor for this team,” said Bleiler. “And we thank Representative Brodeur for helping to make it happen.”
