MELROSE — On Tuesday June 7, the Melrose Youth Hockey Girls’ program was presented the USA Hockey Female Honors Award for 2016.
This yearly award is designed to recognize hockey associations that are leaders in the growth, development and promotion of ice hockey for females. Due to the numerous successes the Melrose girls’ program has had over the years with state championships, growing its female program, as well as running hugely successful girls only learn to play hockey program in the fall of 2015 after being awarded the Cheever Grant, the Melrose program was recognized by USA Hockey.
MYH will once again be holding a free 6-8 week learn to play hockey program for Melrose girls only who have never tried hockey and are interested in learning the game, especially girls who would like to try goalie. If you would like to know more about this program please contact Melissa Aveni at mjaveni@comcast.net or Fred Kelley at fred.kelley@fmr.com.
