Registration is now open for the fall 2020 In-Town City and Travel Leagues of Melrose Youth Soccer.

Each league will follow state-level guidelines, focused on reducing the risk of spreading the virus. Information of the Massachusetts Reopening Phase 3 requirements and the guidelines set by Massachusetts Youth Soccer can be found at: mayouthsoccer.org.

All players and their parents should read and understand the current Melrose COVID-19 policy before registering; compliance with these guidelines will be required. That policy can be found at melroseyouthsoccer.net.

The plans described below are subject to change if covid-related guidelines/requirements evolve.

Travel League

Deadline: Midnight, Friday, Aug. 21

Middlesex Youth Soccer is planning for a fall travel soccer season with games to be played against a smaller group of regionally clustered teams. Travel League is for 3rd grade through 8th grade players. The cost is $100 per player with a family maximum of $200. Players are separated by gender and placed on teams based on ability. Without the usual evaluation sessions and with a shorter season, the focus for this fall season will be more on player development and the roster will be more flexible.

Practices are expected to start in early September and will generally be held twice a week as field space allows. Games will be scheduled for Saturday’s and are expected to start on Sept. 19. There are expected to be six to eight games.

In-Town City League

Deadline: Midnight, Monday, Aug. 3

City League is for Kindergarten through 5th grade students who wish to play and practice in Melrose. The cost is $100 per player with a family maximum of $200. Players are grouped in coed teams by their school and year. Kindergarten teams have a 1-hour combined practice and game on Saturdays. These sessions are expected to start on Sept. 12 or Sept. 19. The hope is for six to eight games.

1st-5th graders have a 1-hour practice one evening a week and a 1-hour game on Saturdays. Practices are expected to start in early September and games are expected to start on Sept. 12 or Sept. 19. The hope is for six to eight games this season.

Financial assistance is available. If you would like to request financial assistance, please email: financial-assistance@melroseyouthsoccer.net. Please include the players for whom you would like a fee waiver for and the league and grade in which they will play. The reply will contain instructions and proceeding with the registration process.

Anyone who does not complete on-time registration by the deadline may register on the waitlist. There is a late fee for the waitlist and players are placed on a space-available basis.
