O'Neill-obit_webHAMPTON BEACH, N.H. — Michael J. “Monk” O’Neill, a resident of Hampton Beach, N.H. and former longtime resident of Seabrook, N.H. and Melrose, entered into eternal life on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill following a brief battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.

Michael was born in Malden on Oct. 26, 1955, a son of Lorraine R. (Boyle) O’Neill and Robert J. O’Neill. He grew up in Melrose where he was educated in the Melrose Public School system and graduated from Melrose High School in 1974.

Michael had been working as a laborer for several establishments in the Hampton Beach area.

Michael was the beloved son of Lorraine R. (Boyle) O’Neill and the late Robert J. O’Neill. He was the devoted brother of Paul O’Neill and his wife Sarah O’Leary of Melrose, Patricia O’Neill of Chelmsford, Robert O’Neill of Hampton Beach, N.H. and John O’Neill of Barnstable. He was the loving uncle to Emily, Patrick, Bobby James, John Jr., Tarekegn, Dikate and his great-niece Kylee and great-nephew Jackson. He will be fondly remembered by the McGuirk and Coyne clans.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend Michael’s visiting hours on Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. to noon in The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St., Melrose followed by his funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 12:30 p.m. Interment services at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel.
