WAKEFIELD — Jennifer Migliore, who won the Sept. 8 Democratic Primary earning the right to face three-term incumbent State Representative Donald Wong (R-Saugus) in the Nov. 8 election, has challenged Wong to a series of five debates.

Migliore, of Saugus, defeated Wakefield resident Saritin Rizzuto to earn the Democratic nomination to run against Wong in the race for the Ninth Essex District seat. The Ninth Essex District covers Wakefield precincts 1,2,3 and 7 most of Saugus and a sliver of Lynn.

Wong was unopposed in the Sept. 8 Republican Primary.

Migliore’s letter challenging Wong to the five debates is reprinted below.

Dear Representative Donald Wong,

Congratulations on securing the Republican nomination and thank you for your service as our State Representative for the last three terms.

With less than eight weeks until Election Day, I am proposing a a series of five Lincoln-Douglas style debates between now and November. These debates will be the best way to present our different approaches to the challenges and opportunities our community faces. They can be mediated by local news outlets, including the Saugus Advocate, the Saugus Advertiser, the Wakefield Observer, the Wakefield Daily Item, the Lynn Journal and the Daily Lynn Item We need to debate openly about the issues that matter most to this district so that the citizens of Wakefield, Saugus and Lynn can get the strong, full-time representative they deserve in the State House. The stakes are too high to leave them in the dark.

Please response directly to my campaign manager Fred LaRiccia (frichdem@aol.com) or 781-548-9680) to coordinate a debate schedule and logistics. I will be sharing this letter with local media outlets.

I look forward to debating the issues that matter most to the Ninth Essex District.

Sincerely,

Jen Migliore
