DANVERS — Ira Toyota of Danvers, 99 Andover St. (Rte. 114) is hosting a blood drive in honor of Lynnfield High School junior Molly Malone and other childhood cancer warriors on Friday, Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In a Facebook post, local resident Linda Maxwell Fair said, “blood supplies are critically low.” She encouraged residents to attend the blood drive.

Residents interested in making an appointment should call 1-800-Red-Cross or visit www.redcrossblood.org. Enter sponsor code “IRA” when registering.

Malone is currently in remission after a yearlong fight with Ewing Sarcoma. Over the course of her illness she became an inspiration for the Lynnfield community for the courage and determination she displayed.

Molly and the Malone family were honored last month when the Board of Selectmen declared Jan. 5 “Molly Malone Day.” She was presented with a $5,000 donation from the nonprofit organization Cops for Kids with Cancer during a tribute ceremony at Town Hall. To date, Cops for Kids with Cancer has donated over $2.5 million directly to children and their families.
