U.S. Army veteran, author of book about Bridge

Murray-Wolf-Obit-webNORTH ANDOVER — Murray E. Wolf, 77, of North Andover, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia on March 21,1938, he was the son of the late Herman and Rose (Jacobson) Wolf. He was a graduate of Overbrook High School in Pennsylvania and Northeastern University, where he received his master’s degree in Engineering. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Murray worked as an engineer for Textron (formerly AVCO) in Wilmington and for General Electric Company. He was co-owner of the Sea Wolf Restaurant in Methuen, with his wife Marilyn . He was a former resident of Andover for 40 years and a member of the Temple Emanuel in Andover. He was a member of the retirement Club at Textron and served in various committees at Brightview in North Andover.

He was the best husband and father. He was compassionate to everyone, he was generous, kind and a warm person. He was an organ donor. Murray was an avid golfer. He enjoyed poker and all sports. He loved Bridge and tennis and he also wrote a book about Bridge.

Murray was the beloved husband of 40 years to Marilyn L. (Smith) Wolf; the loving father of Donald Tiney of Bradford, Brian Wolf of New Jersey and Rick Tiney of Conway, N.H., Lisa Wolf of Philadelphia, Pa. and Barbara Tiney of Napa Valley, Calif.; he was the brother of Diane Winestock of Philadelphia, Pa. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great–grandchildren.

Graveside service were held the Temple Emanuel Cemetery, 202 Mount Vernon St., Lawrence on Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to: American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701. Arrangements are by Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading.
