MELROSE — Nancy J. (McCoy) Christopher, 70, a longtime resident of Melrose, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Mass. General Hospital on Wednesday, June 21.
Nancy was born in Somerville on August 23, 1946, one of seven children of the late Peter and Mary (Nagle) McCoy. Raised and educated in Somerville, Nancy married the late John Christopher and settled in Melrose to raise a family of five children. Nancy was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend.
Nancy was the beloved wife of the late John Christopher with whom she shared 46 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Karen A. Symond and her husband Jason of Melrose, John A. Christopher and his wife Alisa of Bellingham, Susan M. Bardaro of Melrose, Traci M. Barbagallo and her husband Salvatore of Georgetown, and Peter M. Christopher of Georgetown. She was the caring sister of Maureen Pino and her husband Arthur, Alice Holloran and her late husband Joseph, Peter McCoy and his wife Lucille, Catherine Mainero and her husband Frank, William McCoy and his wife Jeannette, and Susan Coveney and her husband Michael. Dear sister-in-law of Marie Hennessey and her husband Thomas of Chicago, IL. She was the cherished grandmother of Chanel, Courtney, Lilah, Christopher, Calli, Braedon, Nicholas and Valentina. Also survived by 30 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends gathered in honor of Nancy’s life for her funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Herbert Street, Melrose celebrated on Monday, June 26 at 11 a.m.
Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
