NORTH READING — Two members of the NRHS girls’ basketball team were named 2022-23 Cape Ann League All-Stars as senior captains Faith Newton and Brianne Slattery made the list.
Both Hornets were four-year varsity players and three-year starters who played in all 22 games this season for NR.
Newton finished the year with 374 points, 192 rebounds, 29 assists, 37 steals and 54 3-point field goals.

Slattery finished the year with 206 points, 63 rebounds, 47 assists, 41 steals and 34 3-point field goals.
“Faith and Brianne were both well-deserving of their All Star recognition this season as voted on by the CAL coaches,” said NRHS head coach Bob Romeo. “In a league with 10 teams, it is difficult to get multiple All Star selections from one team so it was very satisfying to see them both voted in.”
The Hornets had another strong season this year, finishing 15-5 before beating Arlington Catholic in the Div. 3 state tournament.
