NORTH READING — Aldersgate United Methodist Church traveled to Washington County, Maine Sunday, July 28 to Saturday, August 3 to work with Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Downeast.

The 33-member team, ages 10 to 78 years old, stayed at the Jacksonville United Methodist Campground and traveled to work sites in Lubec and Cherryfield.

Projects included stripping, repairing and shingling two roofs, scraping, priming and repainting two structures, and a deck rebuild.

Recounting the experience, Rev. Rachel Fisher shares, “This was our 20th year of mission to this community! We donated two pop-up shade structures in honor of this milestone! We are grateful to God for this opportunity to show Jesus’s love in tangible ways, and to build our own faith identity through the work God gives us to do.”
