NORTH READING — A Notice of Intent public hearing before the Conservation Commission has been filed by D. Bruce Wheeler, trustee of the J.B. McLane House Realty Trust, 148 Park St., to be held by teleconference on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.

The NOI was filed under the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the North Reading General Wetlands Protection Bylaw, Chapter 196, for Wheeler’s proposal to construct an apartment building for senior housing with associated walkways, utilities, drives, parking areas, storm water management BMPs, landscaping and other site amenities.

The requested use of the land for senior housing was approved as an overlay district by the voters at Town Meeting in June 2021. Wheeler’s plan includes a proposal to physically move the 1818 Jared B. McLane House back several feet from the roadway to improve the sight lines between this building (which is located on a curve along Park Street, across the street from the Flint Memorial Library) and the driveway to the Police Station. The 148 Park St. site is located within the Center Village Historic District.
