NEW YORK — Senior Alex Carpenter, junior Ryan McGuire, senior captain Spencer Beane and senior captain Aidan Nadeau proudly represented the North Reading track program at the New Balance National Championship Meet on Friday, March 11 at the Armory in Manhattan.

They competed in the Sprint Medley event in the Rising Stars division. The event consists of running a four person relay of 200-200-400-800 meters for a total of 1600 meters. The boys finished 18th overall in the nation out of the 25 teams in the event in a time of 3:47.40.

“These boys set out to make nationals before they graduated and they were able to fulfill that dream. This is such a great moment for them as individuals and for our team,” said Hornets head coach Ryan Spinney. “I know they wanted their time to be a little quicker, but they competed hard like they always do. North Reading should be extremely proud of how well they did in NYC and the full team’s effort this season.”

The winter season is now complete but the downtime is only a week as the spring season will be starting on Monday, March 21. Great job, Hornets!
