NEW YORK — North Reading High School had five individuals qualify to compete at the New Balance Indoor Track and Field Nationals at the Armory in New York City the weekend of March 11-March 13.

Leading off the weekend on Friday afternoon was Giuliana Ligor who capped off a stellar first season of track and field by placing 5th in the Freshman – 400 Meters with a time of 1:00.63.

The girls’ 4×200 meter relay competed later that evening and bested their previous record by a second with a 1:48.69. Madison DiNapoli led off in 27.53 seconds, followed by a stellar 2nd leg from Ava McIntyre (26.03), with Madison Vant (27.41) and Kayla Budny (27.71) bringing it home for a 21st place finish out of 46 teams.

The following day, Ava McIntyre came back and competed in two extra individual events, sprinting to a speedy 8.16 in the 60 Meter Dash and leaping 4.97m in the Long Jump.

The event was an incredible experience for all involved and has inspired all five athletes to improve on their performances this spring during the outdoor track and field season and for years to come.
