NORTH READING — With 15 players returning with varsity experience from the 2017 squad that finished with a 15-7 record and lost in the Division 3 North Quarterfinals the 2018 Hornets could be poised to make a deep tournament run.

Even with so much returning talent, head coach Chuck Campobasso knows in order for his team to challenge for the Cape Ann League Kinney Division title, his players can’t rest on their laurels.

“Everyone has strengths that help the team,” said Campobasso. “We are hoping to be a better team at the end of the season than we are in the beginning. We need to improve every day and hopefully that will translate into success in the win column.”

North Reading returns some exceptional talent on offense. Juniors Sean Fagen and Mike Sheridan are coming off a school record-shattering 2017 season. Fagen set the record for points in a season with an astonishing 139 and Sheridan set the single season goal record with a terrific 79.

Senior captain Kevin Murphy is an immensely talented midfielder that will provide some scoring punch as well. Seniors Dennis Cotter and captain Jake Bedell will hold down the fort on defense in front of junior goalie Matt Supple.
