BRIDGEWATER — The MIAA Div. 5 State Championship was held at Bridgewater State University on Friday and Sunday. The North Reading High boys’ track and field team put on an impressive performance, finishing in 9th place out of 49 teams with a total of 27 points.

The Hornets had several athletes that either scored or had personal bests at the meet. Leading the way was junior Nico Johnson who showcased his exceptional skills in the Pole Vault event, securing the first-place position.

Freshman Damian Andrusyshyn also competed in the Pole Vault, finishing in 3rd place with a personal best 11′ vault.

Sophomore Leo Romanski was 6th in the Discus after finishing in 7th place at last year’s State Championship. In addition to Romanski, sophomore Otto Indelicato finished in 10th place with a personal best throw of 134’2″.

Junior Nikolas Laverdiere achieved a personal best throw of 142’9″ in the Javelin.

Junior Kieran Miller was the runner-up in the long jump.

The Hornets will look towards the future now with all of these athletes returning to the team next year.
