NORTH READING — Junior Faith Newton picked up her third double double to carry the Hornets to their 44-33 victory over Manchester-Essex on Jan. 25.

NRHS jumped on their opponents early with three quick 3-pointers and never looked back. North Reading won all four quarters leading 13-7, 21-12 and 34-24 at each quarter break.

Newton led the way with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals.

Senior Riley Cullen continued her steady play and stuffed the stat sheet with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks.

Sophomores Maggie Schulz (8 points, 4 rebounds) and Bella Cannalonga (5 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists) provided a nice spark off the bench as well.

The Hornets improved to 5-7 with that win and 6-7 with a 40-35 victory over Georgetown on Tuesday night after press time.

North Reading travels to Ipswich on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. and hosts Lynnfield on Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
