JASON BERRY

NORTH READING — The North Reading High boys’ basketball team had two players voted to the Cape Ann League All-Star team this season: Junior Matt Myette and sophomore Jason Berry. Both were named to the CAL 2nd Team All-Star squad.

Berry was the leading scorer for the Green and Gold, averaging 16 points per game and running the Hornet offense at the point guard position.

Myette, the team’s best shooter according to head coach Joe Casey, averaged over 12 points per game.“Both are well deserving of this honor,” said Casey. “They are hard workers, good players and most importantly, great kids. We are excited to have them both back next season.”

The Hornets finished the season at 7-13, missing the postseason for the first time in five years, but they will return most of the roster next year.

“We had some growing pains and battled inconsistency this year but overall, I’m pleased with our effort and progress,” said Casey. “We have essentially our whole team back next year and coupled with some promising younger kids on the JV team, I’m excited for our potential moving forward.”
