BYFIELD — The North Reading High volleyball team ended its season on a high note on Oct. 23 as they defeated Triton, 3-1, up in Byfield.

With the victory, the Hornets finished at 7-10 overall and 3-8 in the Cape Ann League.

The Hornets won the first set, 25-7, but lost the second one, 25-14.

From there, North Reading dominated, winning the final two sets, 25-16 and 25-11.

They also completed the season sweep over the Vikings as they beat them, 3-0, in the first meeting back on Sept. 25.

Triton fell to 0-13 overall with the defeat.

“We came out strong and played solid most of the match,” said Hornets head coach Mike Milone.

Milone was impressed with the play of Sydney Scholz and Ally Newbury.

“Sydney was solid all-around and Ally did a great job of passing,” stated Milone.

The Hornets entered this week ranked 44th in the MIAA Division 3 power rankings as only the top 32 schools qualify for the state tournament.
