NORTH READING — It’s that time of year again when supporters of North Reading Baseball gather for the annual Diamond Club Golf Tournament.
This year’s event — the 7th annual — took place Friday, Aug. 19 at the Hillview Golf Course.
Proceeds help the North Reading Diamond Club continue its support of our hometown baseball programs. For more than three decades, the Diamond Club has invested significant financial support and countless hours to improve Carey Park at NRHS, fund scholarships and advance North Reading baseball across multiple levels, while building on the great tradition established by former coach Frank Carey and current coach Eric Archambault.
Recent notable projects include painting and repairs for dugouts and the Gloria Mastro Snack Shack at Carey Park (2022), installation of a new scoreboard (2020), new Hood School equipment shed and fencing (2019) and the new Carey Park double batting cage (2018).
Upcoming projects planned for Carey Park include infield resurfacing and a backstop upgrade to further enhance the profile and maintain a top-notch playing surface.
As part of the golf tournament festivities, the Diamond Club honored current North Reading Public Schools Director of Finance and Operations, Michael Connelly. The partnership between the Diamond Club and the School Department has been seamless under Michael’s leadership. Connelly was hosted by alumni, family and friends after the tournament with food and refreshments offered by the Horseshoe Grille.
A special thanks goes out to Lena McCauley, Melissa Lee and members of the NRHS baseball team for their volunteer efforts the day of the event. As always, none of this would be possible without the generous Corporate and Individual sponsors of the Diamond Club.
