Mr. Fix-it who loved children, Big Band-era music and homemade pizza

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Albert Libertini, 90, of Sacramento, California, formerly from North Reading, Mass., died peacefully on March 21, 2022 surrounded by family.

Al was born on November 8, 1931 to Rocco and Ester Libertini. He spent his childhood in Medford, Mass. He met and married Annette in 1963. They had four children and divorced in 1976. Al was a single father who worked hard to provide for his family, and his children were his greatest pride.

He worked for Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for 45 years. Many friends remember his homemade pizza on Friday nights and how he could fix anything, from an electrical outlet to jewelry. He loved children and was affectionate and playful. He was the most impatient/patient man, if that is possible! He enjoyed a simple life.

Al loved Big Band music. He derived great pleasure from listening to music from his era and he always had a story to tell about his favorite songs.

Al was a big sports fan, especially college football and the Boston-based teams (Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots) – but he wasn’t a fan of “pretty boy” Brady! He often rattled off player statistics from the ‘40s through the ‘90s. He was an awesome Jeopardy participant from home, and enjoyed Wheel of Fortune as well.

He is survived by his sister, Alice Langone (Mike); his four children, Michael Libertini of West Sacramento, California; Suzi Hindo (John) of Sutter, California; Stephen Libertini (Chris) of Sacramento, California; and Danielle Meyer of Reading, Mass.; as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A small celebration of life will be celebrated in Sacramento on April 2, 2022.
