Enjoyed spending time with family, going on drives, cooking and playing cards

NORTH READING — Barbara P. (Hoyt) Enos, 84, of North Reading, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Care One at Wilmington. Born in Stoneham on August 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Alfred G., Sr. and Anna M. (Jaworski) Hoyt. Prior to her decline in health, Barbara was a lifelong resident of North Reading. She was predeceased by her husband Robert (Bob) Enos.

Barbara worked for many years as a school bus driver and then as a school custodian. She was very athletic in her younger years and participated in many sports and recreational activities including softball, cross-country skiing, bowling, canoeing, camping, bird watching, and playing bingo. She enjoyed following both local and professional sports, particularly the Red Sox and the Patriots. One of her favorite memories was meeting Jerry Remy during a trip to spring training. Barbara loved to drive and thought nothing of jumping in her car and going on a day trip. At home, she enjoyed spending time with family, cooking “Sunday Dinner,” knitting, and playing cards.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Dale Gramstorff and her husband Chris; her son, Carl Enos and his wife Christen; her grandchildren, Brian Turcotte and Kayla Zayas; and her great-grandchildren, Harper and Korra. She is also survived by her brothers, Phillip Hoyt, Herbert Hoyt and Jason Hoyt, and her sisters, Alice Sweeney and Ruth Ross, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Barbara was predeceased by her brothers, Alfred Hoyt, Jr. and Richard Hoyt, and her sisters, Arline Lumb-Garlington and Kathy Cartwright.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 10 a.m. at the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill St., North Reading. There will be no calling hours. Private interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery, North Reading. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Massachusetts Audubon Society.
