Cherished time spent with family

NORTH READING — Catherine E. (Ahearn) Brennan, 89, beloved wife of the late Francis G. Brennan, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Winchester on December 12, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Duff) Ahearn.

Catherine grew up in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. She married the love of her life, Frank, in 1953 and they settled in North Reading to raise their family. Catherine enjoyed being in her garden, traveling and going on vacations with her family. Family was the most important part of Catherine’s life. She made sure to attend every game and important even in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. Catherine was deeply devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, and many friends. She will truly be missed by all the lives and people she touched in her life.

Catherine was the devoted mother of Kathleen and Steve Allison of Lynnfield, Maureen and James McMahon of South Boston, Michael and Colleen Brennan of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Kevin and Chevonne Brennan of Haverhill. She was the cherished grandmother of Jamie and Yuko, Steven and Lori, Timothy and Marissa, Kaitlyn and Gregg, Matthew, Sarah and Eric, James and Kayla, Shane and Ali, Tyler and Maya, Jacob and Brittany, Megan and Sydney. She was the loving great-grandmother of Ren, Charlotte, Benjamin, Willow, Finley, Adeline and Elsie. Catherine was the beloved sister of the late Doris Merrigan and the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend to many.

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather with Catherine’s family for visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park Street, North Reading on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m.  

Her funeral service will be held from the Cota Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10 at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass celebrating Catherine’s life at Saint Theresa Church, 63 Winter St., North Reading at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Glen Cemetery in Reading.
