A kind and patient father; loved to dance and the outdoors
NEWBURYPORT – In loving memory of our father, Daniel Joseph Ahern III, who passed away on March 10, 2023, surrounded by family.
Daniel was born on August 5, 1945 in Boston, Mass., and was the son of the late Daniel Joseph Ahern Jr., and Grace C. (Proctor) Ahern. He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Armstrong) Ahern, his daughter, Erin (Ahern) Johnson and her husband, Douglas Johnson of Newburyport; and his sons, Daniel J. Ahern IV and his wife, Danielle Ahern, of Exeter, N.H.; and Patrick A. Ahern of Ormond Beach, Florida, as well as his sisters, Patricia Ahern and Mary Ahern. He also was a beloved grandfather to five grandchildren, Brayden, Sophie, and Parker Johnson, and Claire and Molly Ahern. He was predeceased by his brother, John Ahern.
Daniel loved to dance, and to see smiles on everyone’s faces. His love radiated to all who knew him. He was a kind and patient father who instilled his good nature and kindness. He grew up on Martin’s Pond in North Reading, Mass., where he developed his love for the outdoors and nature. He graduated from North Reading High School, where he was an All-State gymnast.
Daniel graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and worked as an engineer in Cambridge, Mass. for over 45 years. He was an avid golfer who played in the annual St. Jude’s Golf Tournament to raise money for their research hospital.
Daniel traveled around the world, and often would share stories of his adventures throughout Europe and Asia. He worked in Canada, Libya, England, Singapore and South Korea.
He was an inspiration and a role model to all his children and grandchildren. The impact he left upon all those around him will live on for generations to come. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him
Dear Dad, you are now free and at peace but your spirit will live on forever. We love you with all our hearts. We pray your soul will be carried to be at peace with your family in Heaven.

The funeral service were held at Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport, on March 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.
