Enjoyed traveling, skating, cross-country skiing

WAKEFIELD — Helen M. Taylor, 92, of Wakefield, died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Salem Hospital.

Born in Boston on November 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Stanley W. and Guida M. (Whynott) Schnare.

Mrs. Taylor was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Boston High School. She had been a resident of Wakefield for more than 60 years and was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church. She enjoyed traveling the world and RVing throughout the country with her late husband. When she was not traveling, she enjoyed wintering in both St. Augustine, Fla. and North Conway, N.H., where she enjoyed skating, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Mrs. Taylor loved to host Sunday dinners and make delicious meals for her family to enjoy. Above all, she was the matriarch of her family and always had the utmost compassion and love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be tremendously missed by all of her family and friends.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alister C. Taylor, who was the love of her life and together they shared 54 beautiful years of marriage. She was the mother of Wayne Taylor and his wife Lisa of Andover, Scott Taylor and his wife Maureen of Topsfield, Mark Taylor and his wife Jean of Wakefield, and Cheryl Mikula and her husband Bernie of North Reading. She was the grandmother of Laura, Michael, Ashley, Brooke, Brittany, Danielle, Alycia and Brianna Taylor and Derek, Alexa and Michael Mikula. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Payton, Brayden and Ayla. Mrs. Taylor was the sister of the late Herbert S. Schnare.

Her funeral service will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Friday, March 29 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
